A British woman, who was detained in Ankara on the suspicion that she was trying to cross into Syria to join the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, was deported from Turkey to Britain on Thursday, Xinhua news agency reported citing the state-run Anatolia news service.

Jalila Nadra H., 22, was detained by Turkish police in a counter-terrorism operation in the inter-provincial bus terminal in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Tuesday, Turkish police sources were quoted as saying.

Three British teenagers suspected of planning to join the IS were detained in Turkey's largest city of Istanbul last week and deported from the country.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said some 1,154 foreign fighters have been deported from Turkey and 19,500 people have been banned from travelling to the country.

He added that 16 people from Indonesia were recently intercepted while trying to cross into Syria.
