British Prime Minister David Cameron and opposition Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn defended democratic values at a ceremony on Friday in tribute to MP Jo Cox, killed on Thursday in the English village of Birstall.
After placing flowers near the scene of her murder, Cameron called for redoubling efforts to defend the democratic values of tolerance and service as Cox was killed carrying out her job as a parliamentarian.
Corbyn described the murder as an "attack on democracy" and reported that parliament will be convened on Monday to enable members to pay their respects to the Labour politician, EFE reported.
The Prime Minister called for politics and national life without hate and divisions.
Meanwhile, the Labour leader said Cox, 41, worked for campaigns against slavery and for the humanitarian organization Oxfam to defend human rights and justice worldwide.
The British flag was at half-mast on Friday in Westminster Palace in mourning for the death of the Labour MP.
