The CBI has launched an investigation into the gunning down of businessman Manoj Vashisht by Delhi Police at a restaurant here in May.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took up the case following a directive from the union home ministry.
Vashisht was shot dead by a team of Delhi Police Special Cell at Sagar Ratna restaurant in Rajendra Nagar on May 16.
Delhi Police had claimed that a constable had shot at Vashisht in a bid to incapacitate him, on seeing him firing from his revolver. This, they said, led to his death.
Vashisht's family alleged that it was a fake gun battle.
The CBI on Thursday registered a case on charges like attempt to murder and obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions.
