A four-year-old girl and a woman Tuesday drowned when a motorized boat carrying at least 20 passengers capsized in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas, police said.
The incident happened over Mani river shortly after the overcrowded boat left Raidighi for Maipith island.
"A four-year-old girl and a woman drowned in the incident while the rest of the passengers have been rescued. Some of the passengers have been hospitalised due to trauma," said Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Diamond Harbour) Rupantar Sengupta.
