Four suspected hijackers were arrested early Tuesday with handmade bombs, a media report said.
Police suspect their involvement in an incident Sunday in which a shopkeeper in Dhaka's Gorhan area was shot at and 2 million taka (nearly $28,000) was snatched from him.
They suspects have been indentified as Hazrat Ali, 25, Jamal Hossain, 27, Hridoy, 28, and Md. Riyad, 26.
Khilgaon police officer in charge Md. Mostafizur Rahman said that Ali, Hossain and Hridoy were arrested while making bombs in an abandoned building at Gorhan.
Riyad was arrested on information from the three.
"They are members of a hijacking ring. Two handmade bombs and bomb-making materials have been recovered from them," bdnews24.com quoted Rahman as saying.
