China and India Monday voiced their common aspiration for maintaining peace and stability on their borders.
The affirmation came from senior officials of the two countries' foreign ministries during the two-day meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on China-India Border Affairs in Beijing, Xinhua reported citing a Chinese foreign ministry press release.
It said the two sides reviewed recent developments in China-India border areas, expressed satisfaction with the overall situation in these areas and reiterated that maintaining peace and stability there meets the fundamental interests of both countries.
During the meeting, officials from both sides committed to take concrete measures to jointly safeguard border peace and tranquility.
