After a week of scorching heat, Delhi enjoyed a relatively cooler day on Thursday with maximum temperature at 35.4 degrees Celsius - three notches below average and much lower than the previous day's 39.9 degrees. But there are hotter days ahead, warned the weather department.
On Friday, the mercury may rise slightly to 36 degrees Celsius while the day is likely to see a partly cloudy sky and possibility of light rain/thundershowers at some places in Delhi and the NCR, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
However, the relief is short-lived as the mercury is likely to climb again to around 40 degrees after Friday, the weatherman said. There is also possibility of a dust storm on Sunday.
Delhi residents woke up to a partly overcast sky on Thursday with light rain at some places early morning and saw a pleasant evening as the temperature fell further.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 22 degree Celcius, three degrees below normal.
