German football club Borussia Dortmund's coach Jurgen Klopp on Wednesday confirmed he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Speaking at a press conference, Klopp said: "I chose this time to announce it because in the last years some player decisions were made late and you couldn't react."
The German added that he has not signed for any other club but won't be taking a sabbatical from coaching.
"It's not that I am tired, I don't have any contact with another club but I don't plan to take a year off either, I am rapidly realising that I am as close to useless right now as I have ever been in my life," he said.
According to media reports, the 47-year-old had asked the club to release him from his contract which had been due to run until 2018.
He has coached Dortmund since 2008, and has taken them to two Bundesliga titles and the Champions League final in 2012-13.
But this season they have looked out of sorts and are presently tenth on the table 37 points behind league leaders Bayern Munich.
Klopp has been frequently linked with English Premier League clubs including the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal and more recently with defending champions Manchester City.
