A complaint has been filed before the National Commission For Women (NCW) against Bollywood actor and BJP MP Paresh Rawal for his controversial tweet suggesting that instead of a Kashmiri stone-pelter, author Arundhati Roy should be tied to an Army jeep.

The complaint was filed by Gaurav Gulati, an advocate, who has requested the NCW to take action against Rawal for outraging the modesty of Roy and journalist Sagarika Ghosh.

"Instead of tying (a) stone-pelter on the Army jeep, tie Arundhati Roy," Paresh Rawal wrote on the micro-blogging site, triggering online outrage. Roy has been a vocal supporter of the Kashmir separatist campaign.

However, the tweet is no longer visible in Rawal's account.

But Gulati, in his complaint said that the cheap comment not only seems to be outrageous and anti-women but also shows the actor's mindset towards suppressing the freedom of speech and the press.

Gulati stated that Rawal also agreed with a tweet from another user who suggested Ghosh's name in the absence of Roy and he tweeted "we have wide variety of choices!.".

"The comments are a kind of criminal intimidation and insults the modesty of women," Gulati said.
