Corinthians have revealed plans to play a series of friendly matches against international opponents during the World Cup.

The club's football manager Edu Gaspar said the idea was to maintain the squad's fitness during a 45-day interval in the Brazilian league season, reported Xinhua.

"It's not easy to organize matches at that time because many leagues stop and clubs don't even think about playing," Gaspar told Folha de S.Paulo.

Gaspar did not reveal where and against whom the club intended to play.

Corinthians have agreed to loan their training facilities in Sao Paulo to Iran's national team before and during the World Cup, which will begins June 12 and ends July 13.

Earlier this month, Ronaldinho's club Atletico Mineiro reportedly agreed to play three friendlies in China from June 19 to 29.
