A middle-aged couple attempted suicide by slashing their wrists at their home here Wednesday morning. Police said they were depressed as they were heavily in debt.
Praveen, 45, a property dealer, and his wife Sarita, 43, were spotted by a neighbour at their home at Prashant Vihar in west Delhi. The couple had attempted to kill themselves while their two children were away in school.
The two were taken to the Baba Bhimrao Ambedkar Hospital, where they are recuperating.
Police said no suicide note was found, but the pair was deep in debt, and depressed.
"We are waiting for their statement. Their condition is now stable," an officer said.
