The Airport Metro Express Line (AMEL) Friday introduced a monthly pass scheme in order to woo more commuters to use the service, an official said.
Depending upon boarding and alighting stations of passengers, the new monthly pass for 30 trips will cost Rs.400-Rs.2,000. For a 45-trip pass, commuters will have to pay between Rs.500 and Rs.2,500, while a 60-trip pass will cost Rs.600-Rs.3,000.
"Commuters using the 30-trip monthly passes can avail 60 percent discount over the existing single journey fare. For example, the cost of travel for a passenger from Dwarka Sector 21 to Shivaji Stadium (Connaught Place) Metro station will come down to Rs.53 from Rs.150," said a spokesperson for Reliance Infrastructure, which runs the AMEL service.
Besides passes, the Airport Metro also recently launched the family fare scheme which allows discounted journeys to families or a group of two and above.
The Delhi Airport Metro Line is a joint venture between Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Reliance Infrastructure. The line ferries about 15,000 people everyday.
