Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday said the national capital was a "very unplanned city" and that the AAP government has received the mandate to change things.

Speaking at the inauguration of a conference on 'Innovation to make cities financially sustainable', organised by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham), Sisodia said: "We are living in a very unplanned city and we (AAP) have received a huge mandate (to change that)."

"Our city has been partially developed and partially encroached upon and the root cause for it is that town planners about 20 years ago did not imagine that people from rural areas would throng our city in search of livelihood," he said.

"Hence their (town planners') vision failed and Delhi ended up becoming an unplanned city," he said further.

Sisodia emphasized on improving Delhi's healthcare and education services to make it a dream city.

Laying more emphasis on teacher training, he said the education system in the national capital is all set to be overhauled.
