Delhi assembly session gets off to stormy start

The first day of the Delhi assembly session was stormy with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress demanding Law Minister Somnath Bharti's resignation for his alleged misbehaviour with African women.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) wants to pass the Jan Lokpal Bill in this session.

Bharti was caught in a controversy after he along with some AAP supporters had gone to a house in a south Delhi locality after receiving complaints about an alleged prostitution and drug racket in the area.

Speaker M.S. Dhir had to adjourn the proceedings three times since the BJP did not let the house function each time it resumed. Party legislators trooped into the well of the house and shouted anti-government slogans.

BJP legislators Kulwant Rana and R.P. Singh heckled Bharti and tore papers kept on his table.

Congress legislators also joined the chorus and demanded Bharti's resignation.

Meanwhile, Congress legislator Asif Muhammad Khan created a ruckus demanding an SIT probe into the Batla House shooting.

Khan, a Congress legislator from south Delhi's Okhla area, climbed atop the Speaker's podium and tore papers kept there.

He then approached Kejriwal and broke the microphone on his desk before tearing the papers kept on his table.

Khan had heckled Kejriwal Jan 30 too after he disrupted one of his press conference's, wherein the chief minister said there would be no probe into the Batla House shooting as the court had given its verdict and the case was closed.
