Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay on Friday celebrated Diwali with BSF troopers at the Attari international border (IB) in Punjab.
The BJP leader's action came in the wake of an emotional appeal made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a video message to the nation to remember the soldiers, many of whom are guarding the frontiers away from their families on Diwali.
Interacting with the Border Security Force (BSF) troopers, Upadhyay said: "India as a nation stands with the soldiers who are protecting us from the enemies at the cost of their own family festivity."
He also lit 'Diyas' and distributed sweets among the troopers.
The BJP leader was accompanied by Mayor of Amritsar Bakshi Ram.
