The Delhi government on Friday announced the reconstitution of the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes Welfare Board that deals with matters relating to programmes and schemes for the benefit of these communities.
Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam will head the advisory body comprising 145 members, said a government notification issued on Thursday after Lt Governor Anil Baijal's approval.
The board -- reconstituted for two years -- will advise the government "after considering matters referred to it from time to time on socio-economic developmental programmes run for the welfare of SCs and STs".
It will also advise the government in the implementation of such programmes/schemes as also in matters relating to exploitation of SCs/STs.
