Independent artist Shankar Tucker, who collaborated with Shankar Mahadevan for the first time on stage at the third edition of Storm Music Festival, says he was honoured to share the stage with the Bollywood playback singer-composer.
Storm, India's one-of-its-kind camp-out music festival, which brought forth over 60 artistes to perform under one roof this year, kicked off Friday and the two performed Sunday.
"It's my honour share the stage with Shankar Mahadevan. I have been his fan since his first album and I think it's truly a dream come true to perform with him on stage," Tucker said during the performance.
Initially, Tucker and his band performed some of their new compositions along with independent singer Vidya Iyer, while Mahadevan joined on stage later.
Mahadevan said Tucker is truly a path-breaking artist.
"I have worked with very few path-breaking artists and Shankar Tucker happens to be one of them. While rest of the world was thinking of creating a revolution with digital medium, Tucker spearheaded that movement and turned out to be a sensation on digital platform," he said.
Tucker, clarinetist and music composer, launched his debut album "The ShrutiBox" featuring cover version several popular Indian songs on YouTube in 2011. That album went on to get over 10 million hits in a very short period of time.
Tucker and Mahadevan mesmerized thousands of audience with a memorable jugalbandi performance. The latter crooned several of his own hits such as "Maa" (Taare Zameen Par) and few more songs.
The highlight of their performance was Mahadevan's fast, faster and fastest version of the song "Breathless", which catapulted him into the big league in Indian music industry many years ago.
Sunday also witnessed the performances of bands such as Anthony Daasan and Yen Party and Indiva as well as independent artists Suheela Raman and Raghu Dixit Project., while spinners such as Pearl, Tuhin Mehta and international DJ artists such as Danny Rampling and Kid Creme also performed.
Over 3000 people from different parts of Bangalore as well as the rest of the country gathered to celebrate the spirit of music.
During the closing ceremony of the fest, DJ and independent artist Nikhil Chinapa announced that the next edition of Storm will take place in December in Coorg later this year.
