A drunk Haryana traffic police constable, who drove away the official vehicle of a station house officer (SHO) and injured four people in an accident, has been charged with robbery and attempt to cause death, police said Sunday.

Constable Surinder Singh, in a drunken state Saturday, drove away the official vehicle of Sadar police station SHO Vijay Kumar, and hit a man on a bicycle, a pedestrian and an auto-rickshaw carrying at least two people.

He was caught by the public after the car hit a footpath near Fazilpur Chowk.

Two critically injured people were admitted to hospital.
