An elderly man was beheaded in Odisha for allegedly practicing sorcery, police said Thursday.
Purusottam Singh, 25, was arrested for killing Dukha Singh, 62, at Baghajanta village in the district of Balasore, police officer P.K. Mandal told IANS.
The incident took place Wednesday afternoon, but it came to light after the accused rushed to a nearby police station with the severed head of the victim and the axe he used in the crime, the officer said.
The police officer said the accused believed that the elderly man was responsible for the illness of his family members.
He attacked the elderly man with an axe when he was on his way to a local market, killing him on the spot.
