Former Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso on Saturday said everyone is excited that legendary football player Zinedine Zidane has been brought in as the coach of the Spanish heavyweights.
The 1998 World Cup-winner with France replaced Rafael Benitez in the hot seat after the latter was sacked just seven months into the job.
Xabi, who made 158 appearances for Real, switched to German giants Bayern Munich in 2014 after spending five seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"Everyone is very excited about it. I know him, I played against him, I had him as a second coach and wish him great success in his new endeavours," Alonso was quoted as saying by goal.com.
After winning the Champions League with former sides like Liverpool and Real, Xabi says he has plans of winning it with Bayern now. If he does so he will be winning it three times with three different clubs.
"I want to win the Champions League with Bayern. I would love to be a part of that select club," he said.
