Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Friday said National Conference President Farooq Abdullah was displaying confusion by calling stone pelters as agents of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Mufti reacted to the recent allegation by Abdullah in which he had said some of the stone pelters were agents of the Mehbooba-led party.
"On one hand, he (Abdullah) calls stone pelters as nationalists and on the other hand he calls them agents of the PDP. It seems Farooq Abdullah is confused on this issue, when stone pelting occurred in 2010, Abdullah said they were sponsored by the PDP and in 2017 he called stone pelters as nationalists fighting for a cause," she said here.
The Chief Minister said the state government had from the very beginning asked the Election Commission that the atmosphere was not conducive for conduct of by-polls in the state.
"Now that unfortunate events have unfolded during the holding of these by-polls, nobody should try to take political mileage from these unfortunate events. We must all jointly try to work for peace and restoration of an atmosphere where progress and development takes place in the state," she said.
