Actors Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif starrer "Fitoor", an adaptation of British writer Charles Dickens's novel "Great Expectations", minted Rs.3.61 crore on its opening day itself.
Made on a production cost of Rs.40 crore, the Abhishek Kapoor directorial is already in a great place financially as the film has already recovered close to 25 percent of its cost, read a statement.
"Fitoor" released on Friday in time for Valentine's Day as it is said to be a romantic saga. However, the film has received mixed reviews.
It will have to perform well on the weekend, says trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
"#Fitoor will need huge numbers/jump on Saturday and Sunday to post a decent weekend total. India biz," Adarsh posted on Twitter.
