Five people were burnt to death and six others injured in a collision between an autorickshaw and a car in Telangana's Karimnagar district on Sunday, police said.

The collision occurred near Potyala in Ramgundem mandal of Karimnagar, leading to the auto catching fire and the blaze also engulfing the car.

Three passengers in the auto and two occupants of car were killed. Six others who sustained critical injuries were shifted to the nearest government-run hospital.

It was immediately not clear how the fire broke out but according to eye witnesses a can containing petrol was being transported in the three-wheeler.
