A young man who stealthily entered a house to meet a girl was beaten to death by villagers in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district, police said on Sunday.
Seven people were arrested for the murderous attack on Saturday night in Bhagta village near Katra town that also injured a friend of the victim, Rahul Kumar. Kumar succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.
Kumar and his friend Abhishek, both aged 21, belong to Udhampur town, a police officer said here.
"The girl's uncle saw the two and raised a hue and cry, after which the villagers gathered and beat them up severely with batons," the officer said.
Police rushed the critically injured youth to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu where doctors pronounced Kumar dead.
