Five people were killed and six injured when a vehicle rammed into a stationary truck on the Agra-Gwalior highway Friday, police said.

The accident took place early morning at Mallpura, some 20 km from Agra, on the highway to Gwalior.

All the deceased belonged to Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh (MP) and were headed to Badrinath in Uttarakhand for a pilgrimage.

While five people travelling in the ill-fated Chevorlet Tavera were killed on the spot, five others were admitted to a nearby medical facility, police said.

The bodies have been sent for autopsy and information has been sent to the families of the deceased.
