Argentine playmaker Dario Conca has been on target as Fluminense overcame Santos 1-0 to move to third in Brazil's Serie A standings.
Conca struck just after the hour in Volta Redonda with a left-footed volley from outside the area that went in off the bar, reports Xinhua.
Fluminense moved to 19 points, one behind second placed Corinthians and six behind leaders Cruzeiro.
In other fixtures Sunday, Cruzeiro won 2-1 at Palmeiras, Corinthians held Vitoria to a goalless draw, Atletico Paranaense defeated Criciuma 2-0 while Sport held Goias to a 0-0 draw.
