Dutch denim brand G-Star RAW has made its India foray with the first exclusive brand store in Mumbai.
The first store opened at the Palladium luxury retail destination on Friday night.
The event was attended by Bollywood star Randeep Hooda, who was seen wearing the brand's iconic deconstructed 3D denim.
"We are delighted to witness the successful launch of the brand and the overwhelming response received from our audience," Rajendra Kalkar, President (West), The Phoenix Mills Limited said in a statement.
Guests who attended the launch includes Elli Avram, Mandira Bedi, Vidya Malvade, Sagarika Ghatge, Deepika Gehani, Arjun Khanna, Kim Sharma, Farhad Taraporewala, Suchitra Pillai, Shailendra Singh, Nimish Shah and Kunika Singh amongst others.
The innovative denim brand, entered the Indian market in partnership with Genesis Luxury - India's luxury conglomerate. The brand has extensive expansion plans with five new stores in Delhi & NCR, Pune, Chennai, and Bengaluru by the end of this year.
G-Star has a strong worldwide following and is regularly spotted on celebrities who are fans of the brand, including Jay Z, Rita Ora, Cara Delevingne, Heidi Klum, Robert Pattinson and Gwen Stefani.Earlier this year, the brand also collaborated with iconic singer Pharrell Williams as the co-owner of the brand.
This partnership comes after two years of collaboration between G-Star and Pharrell Williams' company Bionic Yarn on a special collection RAW for the Oceans, which transforms recycled ocean plastic into denim.
