Budding designers stuck to the theme of the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013, showcasing a melange of winter-suited fabrics and designs on the ramp here Friday.

The designers who showcased as part of the Gen Next platform were Aditi Holani, Aiman Agha and Armaan Randhawa, Nitin Chawla, Pronoy Kapoor and Rixi Bhatia and Jayesh Sachdev, who design under the Quirk Box label.

Pranoy Kapoor, who hails from Jaipur, says he played with block prints for his very wearable collection.

"I've tried my best to keep the outfits very wearable. I come from Jaipur and I have used a lot of block prints in my clothes," Pronoy said at a press conference post the show.

The entire Gen Next show saw the use of a lot of wool and coats. The outfits were a blend of dress, coats, smart printed pants and tops.

Designer Nitin Chawla's creations were inspired by Tokyo warriors, and he said it was "a transition of modern times".

Popular fashion designer and stylist Aki Narula, who mentored the Gen Next designers, called them "the future of fashion", and added: "A lot of stylish stuff keeping the winter aspect in mind has been displayed. A lot of layers have been used in many clothes, which has played a huge part."

LFW is a five-day fashion extravaganza, which commenced Friday.
