Greek police has dismissed a media report that militants were trained in Athens as pilots.

Greek television channel Antenna, citing sources in the Greek intelligence service, said police were investigating a company in Athens' suburb of Markopoulo which since 2010 has issued about 800 fake pilot and airplane mechanic certificates to Greeks and foreign nationals of Africa and Asia, Xinhua reported.

According to the official Greek police press statement, the company was indeed placed under investigation for irregularities in the issuance of certificates with regard to exams taking place in Greece and abroad.

The firm's licence has been suspended, but no proof or indications of training of jihadis or of their participation in such exams was found.
