A first-half strike from Peru international forward Paolo Guerrero fired Flamengo to a 1-0 victory over Gremio in Brazil's Serie A championship.
Guerrero stabbed in a first-time shot on the stroke of halftime after a scramble in the six-yard box, Xinhua news agency reported.
The 31-year-old has now scored three goals in as many matches since joining the Rio de Janeiro outfit from Corinthians earlier this month.
The result at the Maracana stadium lifted Flamengo to 13th with 16 points from 14 matches while Gremio remained fourth with 26 points.
Meanwhile, Eduardo and Eduardo Sasha were on target as Internacional defeated Goias 2-1 in Porto Alegre. Felipe Menezes was the scorer for the visitors.
