Hamburg football club has announced that midfielder Lewis Holtby will be sidelined for several weeks after suffering a fall from the bicycle in the training camp.
The 25-year-old sustained a collarbone fracture in his left shoulder and had therefore to undergo a surgery, Hamburg confirmed on Saturday, reports Xinhua.
"This is of course a big shock for us and I am very sorry for Lewis. He left a really good impression after the first days of the training camp. We wish him a speedy recovery and we will him support in the best possible way," Hamburg coach Bruno Labbadia said.
Holtby, who scored 19 goals in 155 Bundesliga appearances, joined Hamburg from English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur in September 2014.
The "HSV" completed the last Bundesliga season on the 10th place. They encounter Ingolstadt at their season opener on August 27.
