Haryana, Jharkhand in sub-junior hockey semis

Haryana and Jharkhand women entered the semi-finals of the Hockey India Sub-Junior Men and Women National Championship (Final) being played here at the SAI Centre Thursday.

Haryana registered their third consecutive win as they defeated Jharkhand 5-1 in their Pool B match. The goal scorers for Haryana were Ritu (53 minutes), Manpreet (60), Navpreet (61), Nidhi (69) and Sonika (70) while Nisha Rani (44) scored the only goal for Jharkhand.

On the basis of goal difference with other teams in Pool B, Jharkhand also qualified for the semis.

In another Pool B match, Aishwarya Chavan scored twice for Maharashtra to register a 2-1 victory over Andhra Pradesh.

Chandigarh registered an easy 7-0 win over Karnataka in their Pool A match. Of the two matches played in the tournament, Karnataka have failed to win a single match. Anjali scored three goals for Chandigarh followed by Saroj (2), Manisha (1) and Poonam (1).

In another Pool A match, Madhya Pradesh beat Odisha 2-0. Madhya Pradesh scored through Anuja Singh (6) and Suman (56).

In the men's category, Jharkhand defeated Maharashtra 6-3 in Pool A. Jharkhand scored through Mahendra Topno (9), Amit Bhengra (27), Deepak (56, 64), Joseph Nag (63) and Budu Tuti (69) while Ajinkya Jadhav (49) and Sumit Prasad (59, 61) were on target for Maharashtra.

Women's results: Pool A: Chandigarh 7 (Saroj 3, 22, Anjali 13, 40, 50, Manisha 23 and Poonam 33) beat Karnataka 0

Madhya Pradesh 2 (Anuja Singh 6, Suman 56) beat Odisha 0

Pool B: Haryana 5 (Ritu 53, Manpreet 60, Navpreet 61, Nidhi 69, Sonika 70) beat Jharkhand 1 (Nisha Rani 44)

Maharashtra 2 (Aishwarya Chavan 14, 35) beat Andhra Pradesh 1 (Spandana Bokam 10)

Men's results: Pool A: Jharkhand 6 (Mahendra Topno 9, Amit Bhengra 27, Deepak 56, 64, Joseph Nag 63, Budu Tuti 69) beat Maharashtra 3 (Ajinkya Jadhav 49, Sumit Prasad 59, 61).
