Haryana, Punjab paddy arrival crosses 30 lakh tonnes

Over 30 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived this season in food grain states Haryana and Punjab, food and supplies officials of both states said Thursday.

In Haryana, nearly 16 lakh tonnes of paddy has so far arrived in the various grain markets, officials said. The arrival is higher than the nearly 14.5 lakh tonnes paddy that arrived in the the same period last year.

Karnal, Kurukshetra and Kaithal districts were leading in paddy arrivals.

In Punjab, government agencies and private millers procured nearly 14 lakh tonnes paddy, the officials said.

Ferozepur, Tarn Taran and Muktsar districts were leading in paddy procurement, officials said.
