Youth from Haryana aspiring to join the defence forces as commissioned officers will be imparted training to face the Services Selection Board (SSB), the state government said on Tuesday.
The new scheme, 'Haryana Rashtra Prahari Protsahan Yojna' to provide training to prospective candidates to appear before the SSB under the National Cadet Corps (NCC) special entry scheme, has been approved by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, a state government spokesman said.
He said that 174 vacancies are available for NCC candidates every year under the special entry scheme. These for the Indian Military Academy (50) Dehradun, and Officers Training Academy (100) Chennai.
Eight vacancies are for women at OTA-Chennai, four vacancies are available in Indian Air Force and 12 vacancies in Navy.
Under the scheme, two SSB coaching hubs, in Delhi and Chandigarh, would facilitate the training of the selected cadets for 14 days each year in January and July. The training for each candidate will cost Rs.15,000.
