Hobart Hurricanes produced a clinical performance to beat Barbados Tridents by six wickets to enter the semi-finals of the Champions League T20 (CLT20) cricket tournament here Sunday.

Hobart bowlers put up a fine display, dismissing the Caribbean team for a paltry 113 in 19.4 overs with left-arm spinner Xavier Doherty picking up four for 27.

It made their batsmen's job easier as they strolled to the victory target with 10 balls to spare. Pakistan's Shoaib Malik played a responsible unbeaten knock of 39 off 35 balls, inclusive of three boundaries and anchored his team's chase.

Earlier, the Australian side produced a superb bowling performance with the trio of Doug Bollinger (2/27), Ben Hilfenhaus (2/14) and Doherty sharing the Barbadian wickets.

Bollinger and Hilfenhaus dismissed the top-order and Doherty polished off the middle-order to break the backbone of Tridents' batting.

For the Tridents, Jonathan Carter (42 off 34 balls, three fours and two sixes) was the lone bright spot while no other batsmen could cross 20 runs. With 12 points from four games, Hurricanes confirmed one of the two semi-final spots from group B.

Brief Scores: Barbados Tridents 113 in 19.4 overs (Jonathan Carter 42; Xavier Doherty 4/27). Hobart Hurricanes 117/4 in 18.2 overs (Shoaib Malik 39 n.o, Jonathan Wells 23 n.o).
