India was alert to the threat posed by terror group Islamic State following the Paris attacks, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Tuesday.

He said the central government will take all necessary steps to tackle terror, as the IS was not limited to any particular country.

"Whatever steps need to be taken from the point of view of security will be taken. We will not discuss it in public," Rajnath Singh said on the sidelines of a conference here.

He said countries across the world needed to come together to fight the IS, as it was a global threat.

"IS is not a threat to any one nation. It is a threat to the whole world. All countries need to come together and fight it. India is also aware of the threat," he said.

The home minister's statement came in the wake of Friday's terror attacks in Paris in which 129 people were killed and over 350 injured.

The government also issued an advisory to all states and union territories on Monday telling them to be alert in view of the increasing influence of the organisation.

There have been cases of Indian youth getting influenced by the IS ideology.

In September, alleged IS recruiter Afsha Jabeen alias Nicky Joseph was arrested in Hyderbad after she was deported from Dubai along with her husband and three children.
