Indian artist Nalini Malani's video installation will light up the facade of the Scottish National Gallery Monday during an event marking 100 years of the beginning of First World War, said organisers.

Organisers of the event - "Lights Out" - have also urged people to turn off their lights 10 p.m to 11 p.m, to mark the centenary of First World War when Britain declared war on Germany Aug 4, 1914.

Four leading international artists have been commissioned to create public artworks in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England.

Mumbai-based visual artist Malani's work -- a 12-minute video "In Search of Vanished Blood" -- is one of them.

"The artist will transform an iconic Scottish building as she uses large-scale projections and shadow play to cover the western and southern facades of the gallery on the mound," the official page, www.1418now.org.uk, said.
