Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will inaugurate the two-day Economic Editors Conference (EEC-2016) here on November 10, an official statement said.
"The main objective of holding the National Economic Editors' Conference is to apprise the media persons about the major policy initiatives, achievements and future road map of different ministries of the government," the Finance Ministry statement said here on Tuesday.
About 75 economic editors from different parts of the country, including from Andaman and Nicobar, Jammu & Kashmir, and Manipur are participating in this two-day conference, it said.
"It is an opportunity especially for those who have come from across the country to have direct interaction with the policy makers including ministers and senior officers of the different participating ministries. Besides it, editors and local correspondents covering the different participating ministries will also participate in the two day conference," the statement said.
Besides the Ministry of Finance, other ministries participating in EEC-2016 are mainly from economic and infrastructure sector, including Commerce & Industry, Railways, Road Transport and Highways, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Information Technology and NITI Ayog, among others.
Participating ministries will distribute background material highlighting their policy initiatives and achievements in the last two and a half years, it said.
The Directorate of Advertising and Audio-Visual Publicity (DAVP) will also be putting an exhibition on the occasion on "70 years of India's Independence".
