Jharkhand notifies six-member panel on JPSC exams

The Jharkhand government on Thursday notified a six-member committee to look into the recruitment examinations conducted by the state Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Short Service Commission (SCC).

The committee will review the examination system and submit its suggestions to the state government in 15 days.

Headed by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Saryu Rai, the committee comprises Stephen Marandi of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Aalamgir Aalam of the Congress, Pradeep Yadav of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) and Radha Krishna Kishore and Raj Kishore Mahto of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The Jharkhand assembly proceedings were disrupted for the fourth day on Wednesday over the state public service commission results.

Chief Minister Raghubar Das then announced that an all-party committee will be formed to look into the issue.

A deadlock continues in the assembly over the results announced by the JPSC last week.

The opposition parties are demanding cancellation of the results and a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the matter.

Earlier on Wednesday, a delegation of opposition parties in Jharkhand met Governor Draupadi Murmu and sought her intervention.

The delegation comprised former chief minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Hemant Soren, state Congress president Sukhdeo Bhagat and other opposition leaders.

The opposition charged that 618 of the 2,085 students who appeared in the JPSC mains examination were rejected on technical grounds, adding that students belonging to one institute were selected in large numbers.

Claiming that the question papers for the mains examination were printed a year before, they asked what was the guarantee that the question papers were not leaked.
