The Jharkhand government on Tuesday decided to put on hold a recent cabinet decision on regulating the shooting of films in the state following a protest by political leaders and filmmakers.
Former chief minister Arjun Munda and some filmmakers had objected to exorbitant fees proposed to be charged for film shooting in the state under the Film Shooting Regulation, 2015.
Chief Minister Raghubar Das reviewed the regulation and put in abeyance the cabinet decision.
"To promote the film industry in the state and encourage films in the regional languages, the film policy of the state would be finalised by the information and public relations department. The film shooting regulation approved by the state cabinet on September 1 will remain on hold till the final film policy is formed by the department," Das said.
