Production banner Universal Pictures is considering expanding the "The Fast and Furious" universe with a spin-off featuring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Jason Statham and Charlize Theron.
The idea of a spin-off is in preliminary stage, but the makers have been thinking about it ever since Johnson's character, Luke Hobbs, entered the franchise in "Fast Five", reports variety.com.
The series' architect Chris Morgan is penning the script for the spin-off.
Since the banner had no plan on how to move forward with such a spin-off, the idea stayed in development until Statham joined the series in the seventh part as Decker Shaw.
Theron joined the franchise with the eighth installment, titled "The Fate of the Furious", which released earlier this month.
