JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts Wednesday opened its five star luxury hotel in an upscale locality of this tech hub.

It faces the popular 300-acre Cubbon Park on a towering property built by leading realtor Raheja group.

Built on a three-acre plot where United Breweries distillery once stood, the Rs.750-crore 18-floor premier hotel has 297 rooms, including 30 suites and a presidential suite.

"The Bangalore property is a continuation of our long standing relationship with Marriott International since 2001 when we started operating jointly JW Marriott Hotel at Juhu in Mumbai. We are confident our hotel will be the new luxury address in this city," Deepak Raheja, chairman of the Advantage Raheja Group, told reporters here.

Situated adjacent to the UB City of industrialist Vijay Mallya, a landmark in the city centre, the star hotel offers spacious guest rooms, stylish lounges, restaurants and a wellness centre with fitness equipment and a luxurious spa.

"Our hotel reflects sophistication and elegance business and leisure travellers have come to expect from the JW Marriott brand. The various offerings suit the refined tastes of our overseas and domestic guests," Marriott International South Asia vice-president Rajeev Menon said on the occasion.

Besides providing hospitality to visiting guests, the hotel has one of the largest facilities for MICE (meetings, incentives, conferencing and exhibitions) with dining and entertainment options.

"We have six dining options, including a specialty restaurant 'Alba' with an amphitheatre-like setting, which offers Italian flavours and cuisine, a poolside restaurant 'Spice Terrace' offering Indian cuisine and our signature patisserie 'Bengaluru Baking Company' to offer delectable baked products," general manager Parul Thakur said.

The bakery corner also boasts of a collection of books on art and design and plug-in laptop stations with free WiFi (wireless fidelity) to network and unwind.

"Our all-day dining restaurant 'JW Kitchen' offers world cuisine and an extravagant a la carte menu in an open and interactive set up, while 'Bar Uno' provides a premium experience of best wines and cocktails," Menon noted.

The hotel has a whopping 10,500 square feet of meeting space for catering to a variety of meetings and events in the MICE category.

"With a 32-feet high ceiling, our grand ballroom is one of the largest of its kind in the city spanning 5,024 feet, ideal for global conferences," Thakur observed.

The Indian subsidiary of the US-based hospitality major has similar star hotels in Chandigarh and Pune and is set to open another in New Delhi soon.
