Delhi Chief Minster Arvind Kejriwal has apologised for using a Hindi derogatory word while referring to policemen.
However, he clarified that he used the word for "corrupt" officials and was apologising only to honest officers.
"Okay, let's take the word back. When people come to me and say policemen harass them for money, it pains me," Kejriwal said in an interview to a news channel.
"Action will have to be taken against these policemen. I used the word against such policemen. But if honest officers are hurt with the word, I tender an apology," he said.
The chief minister had drawn flak for using the derogatory word.
Attacking the Narendra Modi government at the centre, Kejriwal said the prime minister was misusing Delhi Police.
"An FIR was filed against me for my comment, but no complaint was filed against Vasundhara (Raje), Shivraj (Singh Chouhan) and Sushma Swaraj. Recently, a police van tried to run over an Aam Aadmi Party worker, but no FIR was accepted," he said.
