The Kolkata police have acquired five Harley Davidson Street 750cc bikes for ceremonial and piloting purposes, according to an official.

"They are mainly for ceremonial and piloting occasions. We launched them for the Independence Day celebrations," V. Solomon Nesakumar, DCP Traffic, told IANS.

The motorcycles have been customised with flashers and sirens among other additions.

The Harley Davidsons, at Rs 5.5 lakh each, add on to the existing fleet of Royal Enfields.

"We are likely the second police force after Gujarat to have Harleys," he said.
