Actress Laura Dern has joined the cast of the upcoming movie "Wild".
Dern will play actress Reese Witherspoon's on-screen mother in the movie, which will be directed by Jean-Marc Vallee, reports deadline.com.
Written by Nick Hornby, the movie is an adaptation of Cheryl Strayed's best selling 2012 memoir "Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail".
The movie chronicles Strayed's 1,000-mile journey walking the Pacific Crest Trail after divorce, drug abuse and the death of her mother.
