Temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir showed improvement on Tuesday because of the nightlong cloud cover as the weather office forecast scattered light rain in the plains and snow in higher reaches.
"The nightlong cloud cover helped further improvement in the night temperatures in Jammu and Kashmir, we are expecting scattered light rain in the plains and snow in the higher reaches in next 24 hours," an official at the MET department told IANS, adding that the minimum temperature was 1.9 degrees Celsius in Srinagar on Tuesday. It was 0.2 in Pahalgam and minus 2.0 in Gulmarg.
Leh town in the Ladakh region recorded minus 4.1 as the night's lowest temperature while the neighbouring Kargil town recorded minus 2.7 degrees.
The official said Jammu city recorded 12.7 degrees, Katra town 13.4, Batote 9.5, and Bannihal 4.0 as the night's lowest temperature.
