New Delhi, April 22 (IANS) Madhuri Dixit has finished the action-packed shooting of Anubhav Sinha's "Gulaab Gang".

"It's a wrap! Pack up on the set of 'Gulaab Gang'! Shooting is done. Can't believe it," she tweeted Monday.

Madhuri, Bollywood's dancing diva, is said to have enjoyed filming the action scenes for the movie, which is said to be inspired by the Gulabi Gang, a real gang of girls headed by social activist Sampat Pal, which raises its voice against atrocities on women.

"Gulaab Gang", directed by Soumik Sen, also features Huma Qureshi and Juhi Chawla.

Ban animals in circus, John urges government

Bollywood actor-producer John Abraham has urged the government to end use of animals in circus performances.

On behalf of animal rights organisation PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) India, John has written a letter to Jayanthi Natarajan, Minister for Environment and Forests, urging her to make all circuses in India animal-free.

In the letter, John has pointed out that animals in circuses are routinely beaten and forced to perform unnatural tricks against their will.

"Unlike human performers, animals are forced to entertain through the use of fear, pain or hunger. Whips, clubs, hooks and other weapons are often used to inflict pain on elephants and other animals in order to force them to perform confusing tricks," reads John's letter.

"I hope you will look into your heart and make the compassionate choice by issuing an immediate ban on the use of all animals in circuses," he added.

37 retakes of kissing scene for 'Kaanchi

Kartik Tiwari and debutant Mishti gave as many as 37 retakes to get a kissing scene right for Subhash Ghai's "Kaanchi".

The film's unit, currently in the picturesque locations of Ranikhet, did not brace themselves for so many retakes of the scene.

The movie's associate director Anshuman Jha is said to have pulled up the actors for not enacting the scene passionately, said a source.

After a continuous 37 retakes, Ghai finally canned the shot.

"Kaanchi", a musical thriller, will release in August.

Ismail Darbar and Salim-Suleiman have contributed to the tunes of the film, which also features Rishi Kapoor and Mithin Chakraborty.
