Police on Monday arrested a man for harassing two sisters and provoking them to attempt suicide, in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh.
According to the police, two sisters from Mehgawa Tappa in Begamganj tehsil tried to commit suicide by drinking insecticide as Raju had harassed them and abused and misbehaved with the girls' family on multiple occasions.
Home Minister Bhupendra Singh visited the sisters in Hamidia Hospital, Bhopal, where the girls are being treated.
Talking to reporters, Singh said: "Both the girls are out of danger and the accused, Raju, has been arrested. The Inspector General has been directed to investigate the matter."
He added that all possible help would be provided to the girls by police.
