A man committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in a park near India Gate early Monday, police said.
Sheshnath, 31, a resident of Nangloi in west Delhi, was found hanging from the tree around 7 a.m. on Monday by passers-by.
"Sheshnath was identified from his identity card found from his possession. He seemed to be partially handicapped. The reason behind this extreme step is yet to be ascertained as no suicide note was found on him," Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Singh told IANS.
Singh said that the exact time of his suicide was yet to be confirmed.
The man was hanging from the tree at a park near a pond at the Janpath crossing close to India Gate.
"He might have hanged himself between 3 a.m. to 5 a.m.," the official added.
Police added that his family members had been informed and his post-mortem examination was being conducted.
