After Agra, autorickshaws in Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad and Mathura districts, part of the eco-sensitive Taj Trapezium Zone, will also run on CNG, an official said Monday.
The decision was taken at the meeting of the regional transport authority, chaired by Agra Division's Commissioner Pradeep Bhatnagar.
An official said that since the availability of CNG (compressed natural gas) through outlets has improved, the vehicles running on diesel or petrol need to be phased out. Autos that are more than three-year old will also be off the roads. The gas-run autos will be painted yellow.
